His Holiness Karma Kuchen Rinpoche | His Holiness Penor Rinpoche

Khenpo Dondhup Tashi Rinpoche

Khenpo Dondhup Tashi Rinpoche, born in 1976, entered the Palyul Monastery at the age of 13. There, he studied under the tutelage of His Holiness Thubsang Rinpoche, H.H. Penor Rinpoche, H.H. Dzongnang Rinpoche, Khenpo Kunzang Rinpoche, Khenpo Jangyang Rinpoche, Khenpo Tenzing Gyaltso Rinpoche, Khenpo Legshey Rinpoche and many more elite masters of the Nyingma sect of which he received various teachings, empowerments (wang), oral transmissions (lung) and pith instructions (tri). At the age of 15, he entered the Palyul Buddhist Vihara and accomplished the Ngondro (the 4 basic practices) in two years. After so, he underwent the nine-year monastic college in Namdroling Monastery’s Ngagyur Nyingma Institute in Mysore, India. After graduation, he taught in the said college for three years, after which he was given the honorary title “Khenpo” or Doctor of Buddhist Studies. During these years, he also received teachings, empowerments, oral transmissions and pith instructions from many elite masters in India like H.H. Penor Rinpoche, H.H. Taglung Tsetul Rinpoche, H.H. Chadral Rinpoche, H.H. Dhomang Yangthang Rinpoche, H. E. Nyoshul Khenchen Rinpoche.

After fully accomplishing 110,000 long prostrations in Bodhi Gaya, India, he requested teachings from H.H. Penor Rinpoche which included the preliminaries practices, wind/air (tsa), chakra (lung), and the highest Dzogchen teachings. And after completing the required practices to the Lama, Yidam and Khandro and also mantra recitations of different Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, he became one of the Khenpos of the Nyingma sect produced by the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, India. He taught in the said institution for the succeeding years.

Khenpo then continued to receive innumerable lineage teachings of both the Nyingma (old translation) and the Sarmava (new translation).

Of all the elite masters he was under, Khenpo Dondhup Tashi feels utmost grateful to H.H. Pema Norbu Rinpoche and H.H. Thubsang Rinpoche of which he also considers as his root gurus. From these two high lamas, Khenpo received all the empowerments and oral transmissions of the Palyul Tradition (all terma, esoteric and exoteric lineages).

Khenpo Dondhup Tashi Rinpoche is the new resident spiritual adviser of the Philippine Center of Nyingma Palyul Sect.
