June 17 – Manila | Today, we commemorate the great scholar and meditator Ju Mipham Gyatso.
Mipham Rinpoche (1846 – 1912) is an illustrious Buddhist master par excellence who lived in Tibet at the turn of the 20th Century. He wrote so many volumes and texts and taught so many excellent practitioners during his time, coupled with a life dedicated to retreat and teaching. Through his practice and works, his contribution to the Nyingma Tradition, Dzogchen lineage and Rime movement cannot be measured. Several of his commentaries on ancient texts are still studied extensively in the Shedra (monastic college) for monks and nuns.
Some of his great works on General Buddhism (Sutra System) and Varjayana and Dzogchen Lineage:
Gateway to Knowledge, Beacon of Certainty, Essence of Clear Light, White Lotus, The Lion’s Roar, Lamp to Dispel Darkness, Wheel of Analytical Meditation…
In 2019, Karma Kuchen Rinpoche gave the oral transmission of his collected works (Sung Bum) in Palyul Monastery. The event lasted for two months.
