It is the second time that we have successfully conducted the Smoke Puja in Tagaytay this year. It was held last July 1.
The Smoke Puja is called Riwo Sangchoe in Tibetan ,which means Mountain Dharma Smoke Offering. It is a Terma hidden by Guru Rinpoche and revealed by Lhatsun Namkhai Jigme.
It is a type of “Sang”,which means offering through the use of smoke. It involves the burning of clean substances such as rare spices, wheat, beans, oil and alcohol. The smoke is offered to the four classes of beings – Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, worldly gods, beings who we owe karmic debts to and who want to harm us. To the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, it pleases them and we gain incalculable merit. To the worldly gods, we act in harmony with them. To those who we owe karmic debts to, our karmic debts are paid. To those who want to harm us, they feel satisfied and no longer wishes to harm.
