March 1 – Manila | On March 9, 2020, we are commemorating the Day of Miracles, an annual holy day that remembers Buddha Shakyamuni’s miracles display.
Starting from the Lunar New Year*, Buddha Shakyamuni performed 15 miracles on 15 straight days in the ancient city of Sravasti, India. He did this in response to a challenge made by the six heretic teachers. These miracles were performed in the presence of several kings and hundreds of thousands of people, from different cities and kingdoms.
On the 15th day (March 9, 2020), we celebrate the Festival of Miracles. The temple prepared a special table with special offerings in our prayer hall from February 24 to March 9 to commemorate this event.
It is believed that on this day, one’s virtue and non-virtues are multiplied 10 million times. For Buddhists, it is advisable to abstain from non-virtue and avoid meat, and to do as much virtue as possible on this day.
